Arroyo de San Serván is a municipality with a population of around 4,100 people. The town, located southwest of Mérida, was founded during the Visigoth period, disappeared for a while and refounded during the Middle Ages.

Asociación Cultural de Mujeres “Carolina Coronado” is a women’s organization in the town named after Sapphic Romantic era writer Carolina Coronado. Its president was Amparo Vidal, and the organization was active in the 2020s. There is no indication the association has any connection to lesbian activities beyond being named after a Sapphic poet.
