The history of lesbians in Spain's different regions
Nogales
Nogales is a municipality with around 650 people located 45 kilometers south of Badajoz. In the Moorish period, it was a fortified town at the base of the hill on a spot occupied since at least the ninth century. It was taken over by the Kingdom de Badajoz in 1230, with ownership and responsibility changing hands several times before the end of the Reconquista period. The town was then refounded in 1448.
History
Nogales is a place that Carolina Coronado, an influential Sapphic poet in the Romantic period, found particularly pleasant to visit during the time she lived in Extremadura.
