Arganzuela, officially district number 2, is located south of central Madrid. Its population of around 152,000 or so is divided into seven barrios, Imperial (21), Acacias (22), Chopera (23), Legazpi (24), Delicias (25), Palos de Moguer (26) and Atocha (27).

Among the lesbian residents of the district was politician Marta María Higueras Garrobo, who came out of the closet in 2017, two years into her four-year term in city government.
