History
During the 1920s and early 1930s, Torrelodones was a popular place for lesbians and lesbian couples to covertly get away for a few days and enjoy a slightly cooler and more relaxed summer. Among the lesbians visiting the city in this period was Victorina Duran. The city continued to play an important role in lesbian life during the 1960s and 1970s, as a relatively safe place for lesbians to escape to from Madrid to relax during the Franco period.
