Camero Viejo is located in the south of the region in La Rioja Media. It has twelve municipalities and twenty-three localities. The population is tiny at less than 1,000 people in an area of 298 square kilometers. Like other parts of La Rioja, the population slowly dropped from the 1900s to the present, with the biggest drop occurring between 1960 and 1970, when it went from 2,297 residents to 1,106 residents.
